Besiktas president Fikret Orman believes that their star midfielder Oguzhan Ozyakup will only leave Besiktas for a ‘team of the caliber of Chelsea.
The 23-year-old Turkish midfielder joined Basiktas in 2012 after he failed to break through at Arsenal, where he had progressed through the youth ranks.
It is reported that the two London clubs, namely Arsenal and West Ham United are interested to sign the player. Besides these English clubs, Italian giants also made a formal approach for the player, but now Orman has opened up about why he did not want Ozyakup to go to the Italian capital.
“Last season, Lazio made an approach for Oguzhan but I didn’t want him to go there,” he told Turkish radio station TRT.
“Lazio are an average side in Italy. Besiktas are bigger than them.
“If Oguzhan goes to Europe, it should be to a team of the caliber of Chelsea.”
