In an interview earlier this month, Arsene Wenger claimed that the club has only just started to draw up the players he would like to bring into the Emirates Stadium, however Granit Xhaka has been on Arsenal’s radar for some time now. Arsenal have been seen scouting the player number of times and as such he is set to be Arsenal’ first transfer this summer.
Although negotiations for the player is going on between the respective clubs, they are yet to come to an agreement with regards to the amount that needs to change hands in the deal. Reports suggest that Borussia Monchengladbach are demanding £35 million for the 23-year-old player, however, the Gunners are not willing to pay such a price for Xhaka.
Xhaka’s contract with Gladbach includes a release clause of 25m Euros, however, the clause will come into force only in 2017, which just adds to the fact that Arsenal will either ways have to pay an extra price to land the midfielder amongst their midst.
