According to German newspaper Bild, Arsenal are very much interested in signing Freiburg’s young defensive midfielder Matthias Ginter. It is also reported that Arsenal have made an inquiry about the availability & price for the versatile midfielder.
Recently completed loan move of Francis Coquelin from Arsenal to Freiburg also gives a hint that Ginter may come the other way around (to Arsenal).
Matthias Ginter is a versatile defensive midfielder who can play as a defender too (he started his career as a defender). He is physically strong and can make good hard tackles. Borussia Dortmund are also interested in obtaining Matthias Ginter’s signature.
Ginter’s contract expires only in 2015, so Arsenal needs to pump in at least £8 Million to tempt Freiburg to sell. If he signs for Arsenal, he will join fellow country men Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker, Thomas Eisfield and Serge Gnabry at Emirates. This will help him to settle quickly in the premier league.
