Arsenal opinion: Arsenal should buy Dani Ceballos

According to a report in the Daily Express, Arsenal have overtaken North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to sign Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos. The Spaniard was very impressive in the recently concluded U21 European Championships, which the Spanish national team went on to win.

Ceballos hasn’t got a run in under any of the managers last season and never did prior to that under Zinedine Zidane. He’ll be desperate to get some game time this season as a starter and it is only fair because Ceballos is an extremely talented footballer.

Prior to his move to Real Madrid, Ceballos impressed a lot during his time at Real Betis. He was the most influential player at the club; charged with progressing the ball from midfield to attack, creating chances and scoring goals.

He is quite similar to Philipe Coutinho but starts from a slightly deeper position and moves forward gradually.

Luka Modric and Toni Kroos have been two of the best midfielders of this generation and this has undermined just how good a player Dani Ceballos is in his own right. He would completely change the way Arsenal play as they’ll be able to keep a lot more possession and help them dominate and dictate midfield more often.

Arsenal have been a fantastic team at home last season but really struggle away from home and this is because they can’t control the tempo of the game away from home.

Mesut Ozil is a creative player but lacks the work ethic and Aaron Ramsay was a great goalscorer and had a good work ethic but lacked the creativity and ball retention abilities of the German.

Ceballos will have abilities of both and will be able to give the midfield some balance. With Ceballos, Xhaka and Torreira on the same side, they’ll be able to have a bit of everything that is required in midfield from bite, creativity, goals and possession retention.

Unai Emery should have no trouble letting his fellow Spaniard settle into the squad.

The Spaniard would suit the Premier League perfectly and can be the next great Spanish midfielder to make his name in England.

Ceballos should look to reinvent himself and would become an instant hit at Arsenal.
