Arsenal Are Already On The Lookout To Replace Bacary Sagna

Sagna to be replaced by Ligue 1 defender Sébastien Corchia?

Ligeue 1 right back Sébastien Corchia from Sochaux is the name that has been touted as the man to replace French International Bacary Sagna at the Emirates this summer. The 30-year old defender has supposedly admitted that he is looking to move elsewhere and with PSG on the lookout to sign the defender, it is now or never for the Gunners to make the decision. Sagna’s contract is due at the end of next year and the full back is likely to turn his back at any contract extension that the Gunners throw in front of him.

According to goal.com, Swansea’s Angel Rangel and Sochaux’s Sébastien Corchia are the two prime candidates to replace the French man. As good as Carl Jenkinson is, he will not be able to withstand the pressure of first team football throughout the season and Wenger has to find a man who fits in Sagna’s bill. But the question here remains whether Sébastien Corchia is the right man for the job.

The 22-year old is more than a normal full back, as he is more versatile and can play anywhere on the right-hand side and is also one of the best upcoming full-backs in Europe. And with only Tottenham linked the player, the Gunners will not be having much competition to land the full back at a modest price of around £4.3 million.

However Rangel, who is another player that he been linked with the Gunners off late is the same age as of Sagna and can match the French defender hand in hand from experience to work rate. The full back can give a solid one or two years with the first team by which youngster Jenkinson will be completely ready to handle Premier League football on a longer run.
