Arnautovic Doubtful, Sobhi Starts: Strongest 4-2-3-1 Stoke City Line-Up To Face Southampton

Predicted Stoke Lineup To Face Southampton On Sunday

Stoke City will bring their season to an end with a clash against Southampton at the St. Mary’s Stadium on the final day of the Premier League season, on Sunday.

The Potters sit at 14th place in the league table in what has been a disappointing campaign for manager Mark Hughes and his men. Stoke come into the game on the back of a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal and will be itching to finish off the campaign with a win over Claude Puel’s Saints who themselves haven’t been in great form.

Team News

Marko Arnautovic will undergo a late fitness test in order to determine if he can take part, following his elbow injury. Ibrahim Afellay and Stephen Ireland are confirmed absentees.

Probable Stoke City Starting XI

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Mark Hughes

Jack Butland (GK)

The 24-year old has looked decent after returning from a long-term injury. But having conceded four in the last game, he will want to keep a clean sheet to sign off.

Glen Johnson (RB)

The former Liverpool man has had a fairly decent season at right-back. Should keep his place in the starting eleven.

Ryan Shawcross (CB)

The captain will take his rightful place at the heart of the defence. Will have to deal with the zippy Manolo Gabbiadini.

Bruno Martins Indi (CB)

The on-loan defender is set to make his final appearance for Stoke as he will be returning to Porto at the end of the season.

Erik Pieters (LB)

Another Dutchman in the line-up, Erik Pieters will take the field at left-back to complete the backline.

Geoff Cameron (CM)

The USMNT international will start the game in the middle of the park, ahead of the likes of Charlie Adam and Gianelli Imbula.

Glenn Whelan (CM)

The Irishman will provide the necessary defensive solidity in the midfield, against the threat of Dusan Tadic and Steven Davies.

Xherdan Shaqiri (RW)

The Swiss international will start on the right wing and can cause some serious issues to the Saints defence.

Joe Allen (CAM)

Has scored 6 times this season and has set up 2 as well. Will want to finish the season on a strong note.

Ramadan Sobhi (LW)

With doubts over the involvement of Marko Arnautovic, the young and promising Ramadan Sobhi will get a start on the left flank.

Mame Biram Diouf (ST)

Hughes has stuck with the former Manchester United man ahead of the likes of Peter Crouch and Saido Berahino in recent weeks. May not look to change that.
