Tottenham hosted Leicester in a meeting which saw the two teams who were running for the title neck to neck last season face each other. It was always going to be a spectacular game as there were many exquisite talents on show. The game didn’t fail to excite as Spurs mostly dominated but Leicester like last season, did well on the counter and got their goal well deservedly and held on for an important away point.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pottechino might have expected his team to win the game as that would’ve meant they could’ve closed the gap down on Arsenal and Manchester City, who both won. But it wasn’t to be as Claudio Ranieri’s Foxes put on a strong united display in the second half which saw them walk away with a well-deserved point. It will be a worrying sign for Spurs for whom this was a third successive draw in the league.

Here are the Tottenham player ratings for the game –

TOTTENHAM (4-2-3-1)

Hugo Lloris– 6

Didn’t have much to do in the first half as Leicester failed to show up. Was tested more in the second half, though. Couldn’t do much about the goal he conceded as Musa ran into some space and bundled the ball over the line.

Kyle Walker– 6.5

Didn’t see much of him in an attacking sense as Fuchs managed to deal with him well. Lost Musa’s movement as the Nigerian found his way into the box and tucked Vardy’s diligent cross into the back of the net.

Jan Vertonghen – 7

Defended quite well and had a chance to win the game for Spurs when he hit the crossbar with a header in the dying embers of the game. Missed usual partner Alderweireld in defence.

Eric Dier- 6

Dropped back into the center back role in the absence of Toby Alderweireld . Gave quite a decent account for himself over the match.

Danny Rose – 6.5

Was a willing runner throughout the game and offered himself as an outlet on the left-hand side. Dealt comfortably with Mahrez but was put to the test more when Marc Albrighton replaced the Algerian.

Victor Wanyama – 6 (Winks 87, N/A)

Victor Wanyama (L) tussles with Shinji Okazaki

The Kenyan had quite a decent game apart from one moment when he misplaced a headed pass which led to the equalizing goal from Musa.

Mousa Dembele– 5.5

Didn’t do much throughout the game and failed to out-run Andy King and Danny Drinkwater who did enough to keep the Master Belgian dribbler at bay.

Christian Eriksen– 6.5

Was a part of most Tottenham attacks. Kept things ticking along and created few chances for his teammates.  But more is expected of the Dane and he must deliver soon.

Delle Alli– 7.5 (Kevin Nkoudou 83, 6)

A very good performance from the Englishman as he hit the crossbar and had several other chances to score.

Heung-Min Son– 5.5

His early season form which saw him score quite a few goals seems to have faded away.  It was quite a mediocre performance from the South Korean as he failed to have a say in the game.

Vincent Janssen – 7.5

Scored a penalty which he earned as he was fouled by Huth inside the box. Did well throughout the game to bring others into play. Slowly starting to look the part in the temporary absence of Harry Kane.

Subs unused – Vorm, Trippier, Onomah, Davies, Carter-Vickers
