“Announce statue”, “Sign him permanently”: Some Wolves fans heap the praise on star man after 3-0 win vs West Ham + Match report

Wolves 3-0 West Ham: Jimenez double seals the deal for Nuno’s men

Wolves continued their good form in the league by beating West Ham 3-0 at the Molineux to go seventh in the table. Raul Jimenez scored a brace for Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, while Romain Saiss netted the opener.

In a first half where the home side created loads of chances, visitors’ goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski came up with a couple of great saves. The one to deny Jonny Otto was incredible, to say the least.

The Hammers got slightly better in the second half but Wolves kept probing in the final third. Diogo Jota had a great chance but Fabianski was in the way once again. Saiss then had a fantastic opportunity to put his team in the lead.

The Moroccan eventually did that when a Joao Moutinho corner found his head perfectly and he made no mistake in the 66th minute.

The hosts doubled their lead when a wide free-kick from Moutinho dovetailed with Jimenez’s run. The Mexican did well there to fashion an outside-of-the-boot finish to make it 2-0 in the 80th minute.

Six minutes later, Wolves put the icing on the cake when Jota got plenty of space on the counter to find Jimenez, and the striker chipped Fabianski to make it 3-0.

It was a fantastic performance from the home side who were dominant from minute one. The clean sheet further enhances the importance of this win. They could have scored at least one more had the referee spotted Arthur Masuaku’s mistimed tackle on Matt Doherty in the box.

The Old Gold are now seventh in the table, 10 points behind Manchester United and looking well on course to finish in the top eight. It is incredible given the fact that this is their first season back in the Premier League after a while.
