Aston Villa vs Middlesbrough Report: Aston Villa match report
Aston Villa continued their charge up the table with a resounding 3-0 win over Middlesbrough at Villa Park to move to sixth place and get on course to qualify for the playoffs come the end of this season.
Anwar El Ghazi, John McGinn and Albert Adomah were the scorers for the home team, who were dominant throughout the game and deserved the three points. Middlesbrough, on the other hand, were hopeless, to say the least.
Around the half-hour mark, McGinn found El Ghazi with a good ball in the box. The latter then hit his left-foot shot to the bottom right corner to give Dean Smith’s men the lead.
That lead was doubled a minute before half-time when McGinn hit a lovely shot from outside the box to beat Darren Randolph at the bottom-right corner.
Villa wrapped up the victory when Adomah tucked in from close range in the 88th minute.
Boro’s best chance fell to substitute Britt Assombalonga but he fluffed his lines when a simple tap in was the option.
All in all, a fourth consecutive win for Aston Villa, as they look in prime form to contest the playoffs in the summer. If they manage to get promoted, it would be some story.
Here’s how their fans reacted after another terrific performance:
