Leeds United continued their impressive start to the league campaign by beating Stoke City 3-1 away at the Bet365 Stadium.
Stuart Dallas, Ezgjan Alioski and Patrick Bamford were the scorers for the away side, who were simply too good for the Potters.
In a first half that was competed well by both teams, Marcelo Bielsa’s had the chances to go in front, but they weren’t clinical enough in the final third.
Eventually, three minutes before half-time, Dallas latched on to a through ball from Pablo Hernandez to score past the Stoke goalkeeper. It was a sharp play from the right-back to end off a terrific team move.
Leeds doubled their lead five minutes into the second half, when Bamford squared in for left-back Alioski to score a tap-in. It was too easy for the Whites there as they moved into cruise control.
The aforementioned assist-provider turned scorer in the 66th minute with a lashed effort into the back of the net. It came from a Alioski shot that was parried into his path by Federici.
Stoke City had their first effort on target in the 76th minute via Tom Ince, but the effort wasn’t good enough to beat Kiko Casilla, who has now kept three clean sheets in five league games.
The margin of victory could have been widened by either of Helder Costa or Adam Forshaw, but their efforts were well-saved by the Stoke goalkeeper.
All in all, a commanding performance from Leeds, who keep their pace at the top of the table. Here’s how their fans reacted after this game:
