Arsenal’s Brazilian left back Andre Santos is all set to leave London on a loan move. According to French newspaper L’equipe, Arsenal flop Andre Santos is on the verge of joining Brazilian side Gremio on loan. They hope to register him before the Copa Libertadores registration deadline tonight.
Andre Santos is set to leave Arsenal in a loan dealIt’s thought Gremio won’t go ahead with the transfer if they can’t get Santos in time to register him for the Copa Libertadores. The 29- year old, whose current contract runs until 2015 will be allowed to leave North London temporarily until the end of the season. Arsenal replaced their first choice left back Keiran Gibbs with Malaga’s Nacho Monreal at the very end of the deadline day pushing Santos further down the pecking line.
Andre Santos never really settled in Arsenal colors since his €7 million move from Fenerbahçe and it will provide the Brazilian a chance to prove his worth. After turning down an offer from Turkish club Galatasaray during the transfer window, Santos has got his final opportunity to get some first team action under his belt.
Gremio president Fabio Koff tole Radio Gualba:
“It has taken a lot of time to establish the conditions [of the deal].
“[Arsenal] is one of the biggest clubs in the world. Their figures are very different. We had patience and skill in trading. Let’s wait.”
The Brazilian side want Santos as cover for the injured Fabio Aurelio after failing to land first choice target Emiliano Insua.
