An Arsenal Fans’ Outcry To The Recent Rumours Linking Van Persie With An Emirates Return

There is no place for a traitor in any team. It becomes impossible for a manager and the fans to forgive someone who has betrayed their trust and left them “high and dry”, when the team needed him the most. Imagine if that player was the skipper of the side and departs with no genuine reason at all. We all saw the reaction that Lionel Messi got for retiring from the Argentina national side, after his side lost the penalty shootout against Chile, for a second year in a row, costing them the Copa America title once again.

Also, when the skipper of the side joins a fierce rival, it will never be taken in a good spirit and there shall be obvious abuses and disrespect from both sides. Such was the case when former Arsenal skipper Robin van Persie joined Manchester United back in 2012.

The player who had been nurtured and nursed by the Gunners right through the controversies and injuries, had the best season with the north Londoners, only to leave them and join the Red Devils, in the season after that. The Arsenal faithful termed him as a glory hunter, when he joined Sir Alex Ferguson’s United side just to win the Premier League title in the Scots’s final season in charge of the club.

Since his departure from Old Trafford, Van Persie was never the same under David Moyes and later Louis van Gaal, as the team looked a total mess. Eventually, he was sold to Turkish outfit Fenerbahce in 2015 and has made a total of 31 league appearances for them, scoring 16 times.

There were recent rumours of his possible return to the Emirates, though there is “no way in hell” that he will be accepted back by the north London club. It is only fit that we do to him, what he did to us, when we needed him the most.

Yes, we need a striker desperately. However, we are not that desperate to sign such a traitor. Even Fabregas might have deserved forgiveness, as he joined a club from the La Liga, Barcelona, yet the Dutchman? Hell No.

Joining United proved that he has no respect for either Wenger or the club’s legacy and the way he celebrated when he scored against “us” is unforgettable. Though honestly, I do not like the French manager right now, due to his failure to adapt and grow as a manager, I do not feel Wenger would be that stupid to sign a traitor of the highest order, someone who stabbed in the back.

It will be interesting to see what happens next, as the Dutch striker looks desperate for a return to the top flight of English football and we will be ready to troll him once he does!!
