ATHLETIC BILBAO defender Fernando Amorebieta’s brother hinted that Amorebieta is just waiting for an official bid from Arsenal.
Amorebieta has been linked with Arsenal for a long time now as they seek to strengthen their back line. Poor form of Per Mertesacker and Thomas Veromaelen is the main reason why Arsenal will look for a defender in the coming transfer window.
Russian club Anzhi have also been keeping tabs on Venezuelan defender.
Amorebieta’s brother told Spanish paper Marca,
“We have had contacts with Anzhi, who are very interested in his services, but given the desire to play in England, that move cannot take place. ”
“We are in contact with Arsenal.”
Bilbao are finding it hard to keep their stars as Iker Muniain and Markle Susaeta are also expected to catch the leaving train in Summer.
Amorebieta has made 15 appearances for Bilbao this season.
