Allegri Dedicates Victory To De Jong, Doesn’t Dream About Balotelli

The Rossoneri traveled to Torino last night and secured a memorable 2-4 away victory to climb up to 7th place 5 points behind Roma. Though the home side took the lead earlier in the first half, Milan fought back brilliantly to get the maximum points. Robinho, Nocerino, Pazzini and El Shaarawy were the scorers. But the win was overshadowed by the injury to De Jong around the 20th minute mark, who is set to miss the rest of the season after it was confirmed that the player had a ruptured Achilles tendon injury.

De Jong set to miss the rest of the season

Talking to the press, AC Milan manager Allegri spoke to Mediaset after the 2-4 victory against Torino. These are his declarations:

“It’s a victory that the players dedicate to De Jong. Unfortunately he has sustained an injury that will keep him out for the rest of the season. We stopped playing after the fourth goal, and in football the matches can always change. They’re never closed. We risked opening a match that was already closed.”

“As I’ve said before, Milan will be in a better position in Serie A by February. But obviously, we must still improve. Even a good coach needs the support from the management. Berlusconi has a lot of charisma and he gives us a lot of enthusiasm. We really like that, and it helps the players. I haven’t asked Berlusconi to sign a defender. Acerbi and Zapata are settling in well. Bonera is recovering from his injury. We’re all in the defensive department.”

Berlusconi’s comments about Balotelli? I don’t even dream about Balotelli, and the same goes for Pastore. A replacement for De Jong? Unfortunately De Jong will be out for the rest of the season. We will see what happens in January. We need to sell before we can buy, otherwise we will have too many players. I don’t know who will leave the club in January.

If signing a new midfielder is a priority? Muntari is back, and I hope that he will return to being in top shape quickly. We also have Ambrosini who played a good match today. Flamini? He’s more of a trequartista than a defensive midfielder. It’s difficult to make him play in front of the defense. But if we need a midfielder then we will sign one.”

“What I feel when I see Berlusconi’s helicopter? It’s nice, but it stirs up all the leaves at Milanello. All jokes aside, the president has brought back an amazing enthusiasm. It’s a young team and he likes it. We’re very happy about him visiting us.”

“The quarrel between Mexes and Robinho? Sometimes you need a bit of chaos and anger, otherwise we’re a weak team and then we’ll concede many goals.”

“We started the match well, but we’re too slow when attacking. Our midfielders were too defensive and Torino also defended well. But the players still delivered a good performance. We created other goalscoring opportunities besides the goals, and we didn’t give away much to Torino.
It was an important victory. Now we’re in 7th place and we’re chasing the top teams. Today’s match was important, just like the match next Sunday against Pescara will be important”, declared Allegri.
