After 41 goals and 50 assists in PL, time is right for £11.5m Tottenham signing to take the next step

Why Christian Eriksen should definitely make the move to Real Madrid and take his career to the next level

According to the Sun, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to hand midfielder Christian Eriksen a new renewed deal with Real Madrid showing a keen interest. The Blancos are looking for a long-term replacement for Luka Modric, who has been linked with an exit from the club.

Spurs have already handed new bumper deals to manager Mauricio Pochettino and striker Harry Kane and that should keep them at the club for the foreseeable future. The Lilywhites are now keen to hold onto their midfield talisman as well but at this point, it would make complete sense for Eriksen to make a move away from Tottenham.

Spurs have made a mixed start to their season and have looked fragile at times, with both Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen out injured. But the Dane is now at a point in his career where a move would certainly help him take the next step in terms of personal development and success.

Christian Eriksen

Since making the move to the Premier League in 2013 for just £11.5m, no player has racked up more assists than Christian Eriksen. The Danish midfielder has scored a total of 41 goals and provided 50 assists in 177 league appearances for the Lilywhites. He has also created a total of 60 big chances. Eriksen has been a crucial member of the team even before Pochettino took over the reins. He is their main source of supply and the man who pulls the strings in the middle of the park. The Dane has been central to almost everything good that Spurs produce going forward.

An immaculate passer of the ball and a classy player in possession, Eriksen possesses a wide variety of traits that will allow him to thrive in the Real Madrid squad. The Blancos also have a history of snapping up Tottenham’s top stars before turning them into world quality footballers.

Aged just 26, Eriksen is now a more complete and polished midfielder as compared to the one that made his way from the Dutch league. He will definitely flourish in a top side like Real Madrid and can go on to become their midfield maestro as well.

He has proven himself season after season and it is time for Spurs to repay his efforts by letting him move onto pastures new. Real Madrid have started the season in dreadful form under new manager Julen Lopetegui and could use a player like Eriksen in the middle of the park. There’s no doubt he should make the move to Spain.
