Why Everton should offload Kevin Mirallas when he returns from loan
According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton winger Kevin Mirallas has admitted he is not looking for a return to the Merseyside after being shipped off to Fiorentina on loan this season. The Belgian’s career has taken a downward spiral over the last few years, with the Toffees sending him on loan to Olympiacos in the second half of last season as well.
Mirallas was a regular during Everton’s pre-season tour but the winger now feels his chances at the club are limited and a permanent move away would be good for both parties.
Manager Marco Silva brought in the likes of Richarlison and Bernard over the summer and that has played a key role in Mirallas’ decision.
The Toffees also possess Cenk Tosun and Theo Walcott, which means the Belgian will be way below the pecking order at the club. It would be best for Everton to offload the 31-year-old when he returns from his loan spell at the end of the season.
Mirallas made the move to Merseyside from Olympiacos in 2012 and after making a superb start, his career took a turn for the worse due to a number of persistent injury problems and inconsistent displays.
The Belgian has mustered a total of 151 appearances for Everton, scoring 29 goals and providing 20 assists. He has shown glimpses of his quality during his spell at Merseyside but the winger’s displays were far too inconsistent, which saw him fade away from the starting eleven. Last year, the 31-year-old was able to muster just 5 Premier League appearances for Everton. He has also failed to find his scoring form in the Italian league so far. The Toffees now possess a plethora of young and top talent in their squad.
It’s clear that Mirallas has no future at the Merseyside and hence, it would be best for him and the club to part ways.
Marco Silva can use the funds raised from the player’s sale to strengthen the squad, given that Everton have a spend a significant amount over the last two years.

From Mirallas’ perspective, it would be far more feasible for the attacker to play regularly at this point of his career. Strikers don’t tend to last as long as much as defenders do, which means the Belgian doesn’t have much gas left in his tank.
A move away would provide him with some regular match time before his retirement.
