AFC Bournemouth vs Tottenham Hotspur: Prediction, Team News, Key Stats And Line Ups

bournemouth

After an ecstatic victory over Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur were held by Tony Pulis’ side to just a point last weekend. However, Pochettino’s side remains the only team still to be unbeaten and they will hope that they can keep their good work this weekend on their trip to the Dean Court. Eddie Howe’s side have also made decent progress this season and are unbeaten in the last 3 league games. They are fresh from a 6-1 victory over Hull and will hope to repeat their performance this weekend against Spurs.

Here is the preview of this game, along with the team news, predicted lineups, betting odds and predictions:

Date & Time:

22nd of October, 2016. KO: 5:00 pm BST

Venue:

Vitality Stadium, Dean Court, Bournemouth.

Team News:

Eddie Howe is certain to miss the likes of Lewis Cook and Brad Smith, both of whom remain sidelined. Max Gredel is close to a return from a hamstring injury while Harry Arter will go through late scans to decide on his role in the game.

Pochettino will also miss a couple of first team players for this game in Danny Rose and Toby Alderweireld both of whom picked up injuries recently. While Harry Kane, who returned to training recently, will surely not be risked in the fixture.

Expected Lineups:

Bournemouth:

Boruc; Francis, Daniels, Smith, Cook; Surman, Arter; Wilshere, Stanislas, Ibe; Wilson

Tottenham:

Lloris; Walker, Vertonghen, Dier, Davis; Alli, Dembele, Wanyama; Eriksen, Lamela, Son

Key Battle:

Heung Min-Son vs Adam Smith:

The South Korean international has been in sublime form this season and is the biggest goal threat for his side in the absence of Harry Kane. He will be up against an in form and solid Adam Smith who has made a superb start to the season. Son will have to work hard and help his side on the night against the likes of Smith to get anything from this game.

Key Stats:

  • Bournemouth’s only victory over Spurs in any competition came in the fifth round of the FA Cup in February 1957.
  • Spurs won both Premier League games against the Cherries last season, scoring eight goals and conceding just once.
  • The Cherries have won just one of their last nine top-flight games against London sides (D2 L6), and have yet to register a home Premier League win against a side from the capital (D1 L4).
  • Bournemouth are looking to win successive games in the Premier League for the first time since March.
  • Christian Eriksen has had 24 attempts on goal this season in the league, but is yet to find the net (inc blocks).
  • If Spurs avoid defeat here, it would be the fourth time in their top-flight history that they’ve remained unbeaten in their first nine fixtures (also 1959/60, 1960/61 and 1990/91).
  • After nine games without a goal or an assist, Junior Stanislas has scored three and assisted another two in his last three Premier League games.
  • Bournemouth have started nine English players in their last three Premier League games. The last time a side did this in four consecutive Premier League games was Norwich in April 2012.
  • This game will see the injured Toby Alderweireld miss a Premier League fixture with Spurs for the first time since the Belgian joined in the summer of 2015 (46 consecutive appearances).

Betting Odds:

Bournemouth: 3/1

Draw: 13/5

Tottenham Hotspur: 19/20

Predictions:

The Spurs are surely favourites to take away all three points from this game but the Cherries have shown that they are a tough nut to crack at home and will surely provide Spurs with ample of challenges. Pochettino will need his side to be clinical on the night but Howe will hope that his team can take at least a point from this game.

Bournemouth 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur
