Chelsea vs Sheffield United report: Chelsea match report

Chelsea dropped points at Stamford Bridge as Sheffield United produced a fantastic second-half comeback to draw 2-2 on Saturday in the Premier League.

Tammy Abraham opened the scoring with the first real chance of the game, pouncing on a mistake from Dean Henderson. It was the young striker’s third goal in two games and his first at Stamford Bridge, as Chelsea took the lead inside 20 minutes.

Another mistake from the visitors led to Abraham’s second goal just before the break. A mix up between Jack O’Connell and John Egan while trying to clear Jorginho’s lofted pass fell at the feet of Chelsea’s striker and he made no mistake from close range.

Sheffield United came flying out of the blocks after the break, pulling one back within 60 seconds of the restart.

Enda Stevens easily beat Cesar Azpilicueta on the left wing and provided a cutback for Callum Robinson to tap in. Robinson turned provider late into the game as his cross was deflected into the net by Chelsea defender Kurt Zouma to send the away fans wild.

Chelsea started the game on the front foot with Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic linking up well with Abraham, who saw his initial header spilled by Dean Henderson, under pressure from Christian Pulisic, but showed great composure to fire in the rebound.

Callum Robinson missed an absolute sitter at the other end, somehow managing to guide a diving header off Chris Basham’s cross wide from a few yards out. Chris Wilder’s side, however, were back in the game straight after the breakthrough Robinson.

Abraham then had a great chance to seal his hat-trick and restore Chelsea’s two-goal advantage but was denied by a superb save by Henderson, who dropped to his right and kept the ball out. Frank Lampard’s Blues lacked a creative spark in the final third. Sheffield United started piling up the pressure and kept fighting for an equaliser.

And that’s what they got in the 89th minute thanks to a Kurt Zouma own goal. The ball was whipped in by Robinson, and it deflected off Zouma’s shin into the back of the net as the Blades nicked a point at the Stamford Bridge.
