The latest name to be linked with Liverpool is Newcastle United winger, Andros Townsend. Throughout the summer, the Reds have been linked with a few wingers as Klopp looks to strengthen the team. Andros Townsend was signed by Newcastle earlier this year as they tried to maintain their status in the Premier League. But a string of poor performances meant that Newcastle were relegated. Townsend in the latter half of the season showed why Newcastle were right in spending 12 million euros on him. Although Newcastle were relegated, Townsend impressed with his performances and is being sought after by a few of the big Premier League clubs.

Andros Townsend started the previous season at Tottenham but hardly got any game time. Hence, in the January transfer window, Townsend made a move to Newcastle United and he immediately became a hit there. At Newcastle, Townsend made 12 appearances and scored 4 goals. He also assisted for 2 goals.

Townsend can play in the left as well as right of the attacking midfield. Jurgen Klopp has been looking for a winger and Townsend might well be a good option. Townsend has the pace and he plays the high pressing game efficiently. Townsend can also deliver in perfect crosses, something that Liverpool did not have last season. That was the reason why Benteke could never find his footing at the club. Liverpool do not have a proper winger and bringing in Andros Townsend will be a good move.

Townsend takes the long shots well. He has the ability to play key passes and create goal scoring opportunities. He possesses qualities needed for the Premier League and he would want to continue playing in the Premier League. Newcastle’s relegation means a move to a Premier League club will be on the cards for Townsend. Liverpool will face competition from Manchester City to get the signature of the 24-year-old English winger. Jurgen Klopp is looking to strengthen his squad and a winger will be a benefit for Liverpool. Andros Townsend has been rated at 10.5 million pounds and he is surely a worthy signing.
