Three Players Who Could Act As An Understudy For Harry Kane Next Season

Tottenham Hotspur managed to qualify for the Champions League yet again last season but Mauricio Pochettino will know that he will have to beef up his team to make sure that they can challenge at the highest level next season as well. This has seen them get linked with some of the finest players for a move this summer.

Pochettino needs to improve particular areas of the squad and finding a proper backup for Harry Kane will be right up the wishlist for the manager. There are not too many options that fit Pochettino’s style of play and with Vincent Janssen not impressing the manager, he will have to look for another option this summer. Here are three options the manager should look at to act as an understudy for the English hitman at the club next season.

Joshua King (AFC Bournemouth)

One of the many players extensively linked with a move to London is Bournemouth star, Joshua King. The English striker was in exceptional form last season, scoring 15 goals in the domestic league and keeping the Cherries in the top flight for another season. At just 25, he still has room for improvement and Spurs could do with an addition like him to their squad. His experience in England makes him eligible to act as the perfect second fiddle to Kane next season.

Moussa Dembele (Celtic)

Though not the easiest player to lure to the club, Dembele is one of the most exciting strikers on show in Europe at the moment and it will not be easy for Pochettino to lure him to the club, wanting him to play as an understudy. But at just 20, this could be the right way for him as most other clubs linked with a move for the French starlet are only looking at him as a third or fourth option. With Spurs, Dembele is the direct choice after Kane and will get plenty of chances to impress, which can also help him acquire a place in the national side.

Andre Gray (Burnley)

The least exciting option on this list, and probably the last resort for Tottenham, is this Burnley striker who is tailor-made for the Premier League. Strong and athletic, Gray is a superb finisher who knows his way to the goal and at 26, has gathered enough experience to excel at the highest stage. He may not be the best option for Pochettino going into the Champions League next season but if they are unable to find the right man to act as an understudy for Kane, Gray could just fill in the boots without too much fuzz, at least for the short-term.
