A Dream Leeds United Line Up To Start This Season, And A Realistic One That Garry Monk Might Line Up

Leeds United will start yet another season in the Championship in new hands as former Swansea manager Garry Monk will try to take the Yorkshire side to the Premier League. The club finished 13th last season but hopes will be high of making a return to the Premier League under Monk and the club have been linked with a move for many players.

Even though Leeds aren’t in the top flight anymore, they still have a couple great players in the side and once they do get a couple of other stars who can deal with the rigours of the Championship, the Whites will have a great chance of at least making it to the playoffs.

The transfer window is a tricky thing to deal with but Leeds have been linked with some rather big names or Premier League stars who would be willing to take a drop and move to the side. We look at what could be a dream line-up for the Peacocks if they play their cards right.

Dream line-up for Leeds United

The goalkeeper for the side would remain to be Marco Silvestri, there is no one who is being linked with a move to the Yorkshire club in this position and Italian should remain the number one when it comes to the keeping department.

The central defence though could be looking at a shakeup as captain Sol Bamba still stars but one of Wigan’s best players last season could be on the move since he is without a club and could start in the heart of the defence for the Peacocks. That player is Reece Wabara, who is a free agent and could be looking for a new club.

The left-back for the side would be the 2015/16 Player of the year Charlie Taylor and the right-back would be Lewie Coyle seeing as to how the club lost out Sam Byram in the winter window of last season.

The midfield could see a shake up as Mathieu Flamini is linked with a move to the club since he is a free agent and with Liam Bridcutt’s future still unsure; the former Arsenal man could start in the heart of the midfield with Toumani Diagouraga.

Another player who could join in the midfield is Alex Pritchard from Tottenham, the youngster would add a lot of bite in the attack of the team and being young would be looking to make his mark for the club.

The other position in midfield, out wide right, would be Stuart Dallas, who is one of the best players at the club and cannot be dropped at all. The attack would be complete with Lewis Cook playing just behind the Australian Chris Wood.

Realistic line-up for Leeds United

The goalkeeping doesn’t really change much and the only difference from the dream line-up would be the position of Wabara, who should be replaced by Liam Cooper.

The midfield though could see Liam Bridcutt back in the heart of the midfield and play with Alex Pritchard who should join on loan. We could see the likes of Mowatt falling down the pecking order on the left just to accompany Pritchard and Dallas would still be playing on the right.

Diagouraga would be the final midfielder and he would be starring with Bridcutt this season. Cook and Wood complete the final two slots in the side.

Leeds have been linked with a number of players but would they be able to make it to the Premier League? That is the one question that every Leeds fan will be asking this season under Garry Monk.
