Why this French left-back could be the perfect cover for injured Bellerin at Arsenal

Kevin Malcuit can walk into Gunners’ starting XI and take Bellerin’s place

According to reports from Daily Mail, Napoli have offered Arsenal an opportunity to sign Kevin Malcuit. The French right-back could come in as potential cover for Spaniard Hector Bellerin who is set to miss up to 9 months out with an ACL injury.

Arsenal’s season has had a very refreshing note when compared to all the drama and bad vibes surrounding the manager, club and fans last season. This resulted in a crisis at the club which eventually led to the manager’s dismissal. If you want to learn how to bet on soccer, visit betting.com

Arsene Wenger seemingly losing control of a talented dressing room which resulted in sub-standard performances from top class players who seemed to lack basic professionalism and commitment to the team that pays their monstrous wages.

Players like Mesut Ozil and Granit Xhaka were really struggling to put in good performances and their entire season was riddled with silly individual errors that cost them their dedicated place in the Champions league.

Others like Alexis Sanchez decided that enough is enough and chose to leave the club. But, with the arrival of Unai Emery at the helm, there is a freshness in the aura around the Emirates stadium and the toxic nature of last season is a thing of the past.

Unai Emery is currently facing a different crisis. Rob Holding has been out since December while Laurent Koscielny and Sokratis both picked up knocks that could keep them out for a couple of weeks having suffered jaw and ankle injuries respectively.

Their main concern is the ACL injury to first choice right-back Hector Bellerin who is expected to be out for 6-9 months. He is a key player who is very important in both covering defensively as well as going forward with his bombarding runs.

As suggested by Daily Mail, Arsenal have been offered a ready-made replacement in the form of French wing-back Kevin Malcuit. He is a pacy, versatile wing-back who is capable of playing in any position across the right side.

His main strength is his ability to read play and get blocks and interceptions while he is an excellent tackler as well. While he is quite aggressive as a defender, on the ball he shows his composure.

He could come in and make the starting role his own as Arsenal’s other options in the position are 35-year-old Stephan Lichtsteiner and mistake-ridden Carl Jenkinson. His crossing abilities are renowned and would add something to the Gunners’ arsenal.

He has only made 12 league appearances this campaign since joining from Lille. This would be a move that suits both parties and hence must be completed by Emery before the end of the January transfer window.
