Man City over Chelsea would be the ideal destination for this promising 18-year-old and here’s why

Why Man City should beat Chelsea to sign Jack Clarke

According to a report in Mirror transfer gossip, Chelsea are set to rival Manchester City in a bid to sign young Leeds United winger Jack Clarke. Both clubs identify the player as a massive future prospect who will challenge for a first-team spot sooner than later.

It is suggested that the Cityzens and the Blues will submit a bid in the January transfer window. It remains to be seen whether the 18-year-old leaves Elland Road mid-season, with chances of playing football being much lower in the Premier League.

City have been long-term admirers of the player and tried to sign him while he was at the Leeds academy. However, that didn’t go through and he eventually signed a professional deal with the Peacocks (h/t Mirror)

Chelsea and Maurizio Sarri have now joined the race. However, here’s why Pep Guardiola’s men should take centre-stage in this deal and sign the winger:

The set up for young players is better at Manchester City

With all due respect to the youth team set-up and the growth of young players at Chelsea, they are still behind compared to what is happening at the Etihad and on the blue side of Manchester. If we look at the upcoming talents from the academies of both clubs, there is a tangible difference.

The likes of Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho, Brahim Diaz, etc. are some high-quality players. Even though Sancho went away to play for Dortmund, we can witness the quality he possesses, earning him the national team call-up.

Furthermore, if there is a football coach like Guardiola in there to help the young players whenever required, the choice is easy to make. No doubt Sarri is a fantastic tactician as well, but he is still new to the circuit in England.

Pep Guardiola

Meanwhile, Pep is in his third English season and has already stamped his authority in the Premier League. Hence, given the above facts, it will be better for Clarke to move to Manchester City rather than Chelsea.

The Cityzens should also push for this move ahead of the Blues and get their man eventually. With Sancho out of the picture, it is imperative that they have the exciting Clarke in their armoury to develop him to playing first-team football soon.
