How Leeds United Could Line Up With Pierre-Michel Lasogga In The Team
Having completed the loan signing of German striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Leeds United’s front four may have yet another different look.
He may be thrown straight in from the start against Burton Albion too, given that he has the international break to move across and settle into the club.
Another new signing Pawel Cibicki, who is also a striker, is capable of playing on the wings as well. His versatility will come in handy for Chritiansen’s plans and it will be interesting to see the new signings compete with each other.
If so, he may be part of a 4-2-3-1 formation which could look something like this:
RW – Ezdzhan Alioski
The Macedonian-born winger has made a good start to the campaign, scoring last time out at Nottingham Forest in a good 2-0 win for the club.
A very modern right-winger; Alioski is left footed but prefers to stay out on the right-hand side and cut in onto his favoured foot. Although he is very direct and often prefers to go for goal himself, his ability to break through defences and create chances will be ideal for the new man up front, be it Lasogga or Cibicki.
CAM – Samu Saiz
Nobody could quite work out whether this chap was a good signing or not after he arrived from Huesca, but in all fairness he has made a pretty decent start.
5 goals in 6 games across all competitions means he will surely keep his place and although he is one of three who can provide good support to Lasogga up front, he remains a real goal threat in his own right and can only improve as this season wears on.
LW – Pablo Hernandez
The classy Spaniard is great when given time on the ball and so his starting position out on the left may be ideal for him. He’s never quite wide enough for the full-back to hassle him and not always central enough to be hurried off the ball.
When he has the time he needs, he can provide defence-splitting passes which are simply tailor-made for Lasogga to prod home. This could be a perfect combo for Leeds.
ST – Pierre-Michel Lasogga
Kemar Roofe and others have done a decent job, but Lasogga is a proper centre-forward and will get goals for the club as long as the chances are created.
On that front, it seems like he has landed on his feet here with Leeds having good attacking shape and playing with confidence, meaning chances will not be too infrequent.
Lasogga scored 13 goals in 25 games for Hertha Berlin when winning the 2.Budesliga back in 2010/11 and so this level could be perfect for him and, at 25 years old, he is surely not finished improving yet, as long as he is in the right environment.
Pawel Cibicki will also be right there up front, giving Lasogga some competition to find a starting berth.
