Tottenham Hotspur will be travelling to Wembley Stadium for their crunch Europa League round of 32 second-leg tie against Belgian outfit KAA Gent on Thursday, after having tasted a 1-0 defeat in the first match in Belgium.
Gent managed to surprise Spurs in the first leg, leaving the Lilywhites with a task of overcoming the one-goal deficit while at the same time they will also look to keep their opponents from scoring because if Gent manage to get a goal, Tottenham will have to score at least thrice to go through in normal time.
Danny Rose remains unavailable due to his injury, along with Erik Lamela, but other than that, manager Mauricio Pochettino has everyone else available for the pivotal clash and will field their strongest possible XI as they look to progress to the next round of the competition. Hugo Lloris (GK)
With such a crucial clash in front, we expect the Tottenham captain to be reinstated to the line-up after Michel Vorm started the FA Cup clash over the weekend.
Kyle Walker (RB)
With Tottenham chasing the game, Pochettino will want his best personnel on the field and that would mean Kyle Walker returning to the playing XI ahead of Kieran Trippier.
Toby Alderweireld (CB)
The Belgian centre-back has been Tottenham’s best defender this term and after another solid display against Fulham in the FA Cup, he might once again take the field at Wembley.
Jan Vertonghen (CB)
Alderweireld’s compatriot and centre-half partner, Vertonghen enjoyed a comfortable return from a long injury layoff against Fulham and we expect him to feature in the Tottenham backline on Thursday.
Ben Davies (LB)
With Danny Rose still not ready for action, Ben Davies will hold on to his place at left-back for Spurs, but he will need to be at the top of his game against the Belgian outfit.
Victor Wanyama (CM)
The summer arrival has had a below par two weeks but he is absolutely crucial for Tottenham in the middle of the park and should start against Gent on Thursday.
Moussa Dembele (CM)
Dembele has been brilliant in midfield for Tottenham and despite Harry Winks’ impressive showing against Fulham, the Belgian will be picked ahead of the youngster.
Christian Eriksen (RW)
Eriksen remains the best creative outlet in the attacking third for Tottenham and they will need him firing on Thursday as they look to bounce back.
Dele Alli (CAM)
The 20-year old continues to surprise everyone with his mind-boggling displays week in week out for Tottenham and he is their second-most important player next to Harry Kane. No-brainer here, he will start.
Son Heung-Min (LW)
Son did not enjoy the best of the outings over the weekend, but he has shown that he is capable of delivering for Spurs in the past and should be a part of the starting XI at Wembley.
Harry Kane (ST)
The hat-trick hero from the weekend will be the man Pochettino and Tottenham will look up to, as they chase the game to continue their European journey.
