Arsenal And Liverpool Scouts Track This Influential Defender From League One

  • The Gunners are reportedly interested in signing Porte Vale centre-back Nathan Smith.
  • Along with Arsenal, title rivals, Liverpool are also monitoring the youngster.

Nathan Smith

The League-One defender caught the eye of a few scouts who were present at the weekend against Charlton and the brave defender has been linked with a Premier League move since a few months now. The game inevitably sparked interest on 19-year-old Ademola Lookman of Charlton as well, the striker could move to Arsenal with the London side having their fair share of problems in front of goal this season.

20-year-old Smith is not only rumored to join the heavyweights but even the slightly smaller clubs such as Stoke and Norwich are pursuing the Englishman as reported by Dailystar.

If Arsenal and Liverpool are to push for the Premier League title, the one major concern that they face is the amount of goals they concede. The signing of a young and brave defender would certainly bolster the confidence and spirit of both teams. Smith is also described as a “hard worker” which would suit philosophies of both Klopp and Wenger.

In other news:

Arsenal striker Lucas Perez was reportedly linked with a move away from Arsenal but his agent Rodrigo Fernandez has responded that he is wanted and an integral part of the Gunners.

“He’s not playing because he is injured, He has no intention of leaving, Arsenal and Arsene Wenger are very happy with him. Maybe try asking them! He’s only thinking about Arsenal at the moment.” said Fernandez.
