Why This 20-year Old Can Be The Future Of Liverpool’s Defence And The Hero Under Klopp

The season did not end well for Liverpool as they lost the Europa League title to Sevilla. Throughout the season Liverpool faced many defensive problems. Defending set pieces was one of the biggest issue for the team and as a result of that, they ended up conceding a lot of goals in set pieces. Martin Skrtel, who was expected to provide defensive stability, but had a terrible season. He is set to depart and Liverpool have started looking for defenders.

Niklas Sule, a 20 year old German footballer who plays for Hoffenheim is at the top of the transfer target list for Jürgen Klopp. He had a very good season in the Bundesliga and is in top form at the moment. Here are 3 reasons why he will be a good signing for Liverpool-

1.) Stability

Sule is just 20 at the moment, but he understands the game very well. Also the timing of his tackles is perfect. If he can form a partnership with Lovren it would be just the thing that Liverpool need. With Sakho suspended, Sule can solve Liverpool’s defensive problems alongside Lovren.

2.) Defends set pieces well

Liverpool have been very poor while defending set pieces throughout the season. They have conceded many goals in set pieces. And Niklas Sule might be the one for Liverpool who can give a different dimension to the team’s defence as he is very good at defending set pieces and also marks the opponent well. He is good in the air and is vital to his team. Jürgen Klopp would be keen on bringing a player who can defend set pieces well and Niklas Sule is the perfect man.

3.) Replacement for Skrtel

Martin Skrtel has had a very poor season and is set to depart. He was Liverpool’s main man in defense for the past few seasons and after his abysmal season, Liverpool needs a perfect replacememt for him. Skrtel was also good going forward and was one of the top scoring defenders in the Premier League in the 2013-14 season. Niklas Sule, on the other hand, will provide Liverlpool defensive stability and will be a prominent figure in Liverpool’s back four. He is at the top of the transfer targets’ list for Jürgen Klopp this season and signing him would be a big thing.
