Top 4 Race: Can Liverpool Qualify For Champions League?

9 games unbeaten since losing 3-0 to their most bitter rivals, people would have expected the wheels to fall off the wagon after the drubbing Liverpool got at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford but Brendan Rodgers used a new 3-4-3 formation for Liverpool and while instant results weren’t to be seen, the Reds have slowly but surely risen up the table thanks to a few brilliant and some gritty performances.

Brendan Rodgers

Since the loss to United, Liverpool have won 3 Premier League away games in a row, which they had not done this entire season and also kept 3 away clean sheets, a clean sheet for Liverpool is like gold,3 is like owning Fort Knox.

The race for the 4th spot

Liverpool had aspirations of winning the league this season and while that surely has evaporated like water in a desert, they still have a chance of making it into the top 4. They were at one stage just 4 points from the relegation zone but after this mini unbeaten run they are just 5 points away from a top 4 spot, a spot which can make or break a team, Liverpool fought so many years trying to get back into the Champions League.

They have a real chance at making it into the Top 4, especially with Daniel Sturridge returning to first team action. They have missed the services of the English striker who has been injured for most part of the season but his return coinciding with their recent performances can only mean good things for the club.

The other players are also chipping in, new signings from this season like Moreno, Can and Markovic seem to all be playing well enough and are proving to be some rather astute buys but they still have some time to go before they are considered to be on the levels of their top players.

Speaking of top players, one certain player has been on fire since he was given a break by his manager. Raheem Sterling was allowed to miss a couple of games as the young 19 year old was allowed to have some fun in the sun at Jamaica and with his rest all done, he has come back to form in just the right time for the club.

Liverpool have missed Suarez this season no doubt but making it into the top 4 is a bigger issue they need to worry about but with their players coming back to form and a new formation clicking it might just be time for the Reds to make it into the top 4. To ensure they achieve that they need to play like they have been playing in the last 9 games, they look much better in attack and also they look much better in defence which is something that no one would have expected to say about the Reds.
