9 goals, 6 assists – Everton’s season would pick up the pace if they sign this 20-year-old prodigy before transfer deadline

Why Ismaila Sarr would be a fantastic addition for Everton

According to a report from WIW Sport, Everton are very much keen on Rennes star Ismaila Sarr. The 20-year-old started his football career with Senegalese football club Generation Foot. In 2016, he signed for FC Metz on a five-year deal and after an impressive debut season, he was plucked away by Rennes.

The Senegalese has been excellent at Rennes since signing for the club in 2017. He has continued his blistering form this season, managing 9 goals and 6 assists in 29 appearances across all competitions.

Ismaila Sarr’s dazzling displays have caught the attention of Everton, who have sent scouts to watch the winger play in Rennes’ 4-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday night.

Everton have been underwhelming despite new manager Marco Silva making some exciting signings over the summer. The Toffees were recently dumped out of the FA Cup in the fourth round by Championship side Millwall, ending Silva’s hopes of a trophy this season.

Despite the Merseysiders’ struggle to hit the form of late, Silva is yet to make signings this January. But Everton need to bring in some reinforcements up front before Thursday’s deadline if they are to achieve a top-eight finish this term.

With the likes of Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin failing to score goals consistently, Richarlison has had to shoulder the responsibility of scoring by playing as a centre-forward. The Brazilian has blown hot and cold in the No.9 role, failing to receive much support from the likes of Theo Walcott and Bernard.

Signing Ismaila Sarr would certainly go onto help solve Everton’s problems in the attack. A fleet-footed attacker, the 20-year-old is capable of playing anywhere across the frontline. He is blessed with explosive pace, dancing feet and an eye for goal, while his ability to pick out a pass remains underrated.

A classy operator of the ball, the Senegalese loves to cut in from the left onto his right foot and have a crack on goal. Ismaila Sarr can play those incisive passes for his teammates in the final third and is also a composed finisher in front of goal. His ability to play as a lone man up front could see him share Richarlison’s workload.

Going by his form this season, Sarr certainly won’t come cheap but Everton should break the bank to acquire his signature as the Senegal international could turn out to be the inspirational signing that Silva desperately needs for the second half of this campaign.
