Why Sergi Canos will be the driving force for Brentford this season

Brentford have impressed under Dean Smith this season, with the club picking up a total of 15 points from their opening 9 games of the season. The Championship side are definitely one of the early favourites to make it to the playoff this season.

One of their main driving forces this season seems to be winger Sergi Canos. The Liverpool youth product enjoyed a decent loan spell at Brentford before moving to Norwich City for a year. He then made a permanent move to Brentford last season.

A very talented and technical winger, the 21-year-old is extremely quick on the ball. He is generally deployed as a right-winger but Canos is also comfortable playing on the left-hand side as he was fielded against the Gunners in the League Cup clash.

The Spaniard had a bright game against Unai Emery’s side and came close to finding the net on many occasions. Though Brentford ultimately lost on the night, Canos definitely impressed with his glittering performance.

His ability on the ball is very good and he is often seen making marauding runs from the flank. Canos also likes to cut into the centre and either go for the shot or a cross. He has created a number of chances for the forwards this season.

A very direct dribbler of the ball, Canos is a no-nonsense footballer who is also willing to track back and support the defenders. His work rate is also impressive and he also links up well with his teammates in the final third. Striker Neal Maupay has definitely benefited from his presence on the flanks.

There’s no doubt Canos has a bright future ahead of him. He is certainly one of the driving forces for this Brentford side. If Dean Smith’s men are to make their way into the Premier League, expect the Spanish youngster to play a massive part.
