8 goals in 11 games – Here’s everything you need to know about this prolific Everton target

Who is Everton target Mbwana Samatta? The man to solve the Toffees’ goalscoring woes?

According to Liverpool Echo, Everton have been linked with prolific African striker Mbwana Samatta. The Tanzania international striker plays for Belgian club Genk and has done well to attract the interest of the Premier League side. West Ham United, Burnley and Brighton are also in the list of clubs interested in the player.

The 25-year-old has been in great form this season, scoring eight goals in 11 appearances in all competitions. Lack of goals from strikers is a perennial problem for Everton, especially since the beginning of last season when they sold Romelu Lukaku. Hence, it makes sense from their point of view to target a front man who can net goals on a regular basis.

The Toffees have managed to score only 13 goals in eight games thus far, with help coming from the attacking midfielders. Therefore, Marco Silva and his men must solve this problem before it affects their long-term future. Samatta could be the man to lead them to success in the coming years.

Here’s everything you need to know about the Tanzanian:

Scout Report – Mbwana Samatta

Age – 25

Current Club – Genk

Position – Centre-forward

Born in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Samatta began his professional career playing for native club Simba SC. He stayed there for a year and then from 2011 to 2016, the 25-year-old played for TP Mazembe, a Congolese club. He made his name there by scoring 60 goals in 103 appearances.

Mbwana Samatta

Belgian club Genk then took him to bolster their attacking options. In the 2015/16 season, he scored five goals in 18 appearances in the League. The striker has netted 24 goals in 84 games over two years.

Samatta has a good pace, which enables to go past defenders in a flash while dribbling or making runs in behind. He likes to shoot from in and around the box, and is good in the air as well, making him a genuine threat from set-pieces.

Verdict

As per the information acquired above, we can clearly say Samatta could be a decent addition to the Everton line-up. The good thing about the Tanzanian is that he never shies away from shooting and trying to score goals. He is more of an instinctive striker, which is good in modern-day football.
