According to a report in Italian outlet Calciomercato, Premier League club West Ham United are interested in signing Florian Thauvin from French club Marseille. Serie A giants Napoli and AS Roma are also keeping close tabs on the player.
The French international has been one of the stars in Ligue 1, and is quite a different player to what he was during his previous spell in England with Newcastle United.
He is now one of the most dangerous attacking players in Europe, with abundant abilities to terrify the defenders.
West Ham have made a sedate start to the season, however, in contradiction to how the start was, they have done well to now be at 13th place in the table.
Manuel Pellegrini is slowly but surely getting his players to work and the team is starting to operate in a way the experienced Chilean wants them to do.
But the process is long and the project is for the betterment of the future of the Hammers. Now, they are interested in Thauvin to probably enhance the quality of the squad and the standard of the playing eleven. Here’s why they should do everything to sign the Frenchman:
West Ham made some very shrewd signings in the summer transfer window. Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Jack Wilshere are some high-quality purchases made by the east London club. However, the long-term injury to Yarmolenko, compounded by the long-term absence of Manuel Lanzini, has decreased their options in attack.
Pellegrini generally prefers to play a 4-2-3-1 formation, or switch to a 4-3-3 at the least. For both the systems, the Chilean would require two wide players of the highest quality to create chances for the strikers and also chip in with goals.
Felipe Anderson is starting to harness the promised impact after a slow start, and Marko Arnautovic is there leading the line. Yet they lack someone of high calibre on the right-hand side of the attack.
Thauvin predominantly plays as a right winger, but can operate as a No.10 if required. He can score goals, create chances and be a real menace for any defence in European football.
The Frenchman has already netted seven goals and supplied two assists in 12 league appearances this season, epitomising his attacking prowess.

It’s easy to see why West Ham are interested in the 25-year-old. Hence, they should do everything to get him as soon as possible, especially before any other potential suitor interferes.
