£65million Goal Machine vs Long Term Target: Which Striker Would Suit Manchester United Better?

Edinson Cavani vs Romelu Lukaku

One is a striker who seems to have found his scoring boots and is unstoppable this season while another is a well-known striker, who when played in the right position and the right team will get you goals no matter what.

The conundrum facing Manchester United is which player they should go for. At one side is Romelu Lukaku who has become a terror for any Premier League defence and has found another gear this season for the Toffees while on the other side – and other side of the pond – is Edinson Cavani, who is banging the goals in for PSG but has always stated that he would be willing to move away from the club, if the right deal comes along.

Manchester United have struggled to find the goals this season and truth be told that is the only thing that is missing from their game. They have a great goalkeeper and defence, their style of play though does leave a lot to be asked about and even the mannerisms of their manager isn’t the most positive but United are still there for a top four finish and a goal getter could get them over the line in terms of winning the league next season.

The Premier League side would have to break the bank to sign either striker. Everton have quoted £65 million for the 22-year-old Lukaku while PSG would also be looking at a similar price range for the 28-year-old, even if he is older than Lukaku, Cavani does have a decent goal scoring record and with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s contract coming to an end at the French club, they would want to protect their assets.

Cavani’s goal-scoring record in Italy for Napoli and for PSG is wonderful, he has 173 goals in just 258 games in total for both sides which is greater than a goal per game and certainly puts him there right at the top.

Lukaku’s resurgence has been partly the last year and this season for Everton, the Belgian seems to have found another gear in his game and has scored 55 goals in 105 games for Everton and he seems to be getting better with each game.

The deal clincher for Manchester United would be the ability for Lukaku to continue playing in England. The Belgian has come leaps and bounds during his time at West Brom and now at Everton and he is physically built to thrive in the Premier League. His built was one reason why Chelsea paid the big bucks to sign him up from Anderlecht and that would come good sooner or later, sadly for Chelsea, it seems to be coming at a time when they could do with a goal scorer.

Lukaku has scored 19 goals in just 24 games for Everton this season, he might not be willing to move from the club now but if a big offer does come for him in the summer, he could well be playing in the red of Manchester.
