Callum Wilson – Stats and Performance analysis

Bournemouth were unable to hold onto their lead against Manchester United as the Red Devils once again came from behind to pick up an important win. The Cherries have otherwise made one of their best starts to the season under Eddie Howe.

They are currently 6th on the table and are in the hunt for a European spot. One man who has made a superb start to the campaign is striker Callum Wilson. The striker has already scored 6 goals and provided 4 assists in just 11 appearances this season. (Stats courtesy – Whoscored)

Wilson’s best personal tally was a total of 8 goals in 33 league appearances last season but he looks set to effortlessly beat that number this time out. The striker recently signed a new deal with the club this year and has looked a completely different player since. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

He has been one of their main driving forces up front along with Josh King, David Brooks and Ryan Fraser. Wilson also opened the scoring for the Cherries against Manchester United this weekend after once again turning up in the right place at the right time.

He has averaged 2.7 shots per game this season and has been a constant threat for goalkeepers as well as defenders. He has taken a total of 30 shots in the league. The English striker’s pace and directness make him a difficult player to mark up front. Wilson is also superb with his positioning and is very good at making the run in behind defenders. Wilson has also created a total of 7 big chances for the team this season, showing just how important he is to their build up as well. The striker has linked up well with Fraser and Brooks in the final third. No English player has been involved in more goals than Callum Wilson this season. (Stats courtesy – Premier League)

Callum Wilson

After enjoying a couple of mediocre seasons, Callum Wilson has risen to prominence. He was always talented and his hard work seems to be paying off for Eddie Howe and co. at the moment.

The manager certainly has brought the best out of the 26-year-old striker, who has taken his time to bloom. As the Cherries aim for a Europa League spot this season, they will need Wilson to maintain his form and keep the goals coming.
