Manchester United should definitely beat Chelsea to sign Mauro Icardi
Manchester United managed to come away with a win against Everton last time out and will be aiming to pick up a positive set of results after making a dismal start to their season. The Red Devils have barely looked confident on the ball and have struggled to find the net on a consistent basis.
Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has failed to hit the high standards this season and United currently don’t possess a potent out-and-out striker in their squad. Jose Mourinho must definitely dive into the market in January.
According to the Express, Chelsea have been linked with Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi once again. The Argentinian forward was earlier linked with the Blues over the summer but a move ultimately failed to materialize.
Chelsea have their own struggles up front with both Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud failing to produce the goods. But Manchester United are having a far worse season, having scored just 17 goals so far this season.
That is why Mourinho should aim to beat his former club to the signing of Icardi. Since making a £5 million move from Sampdoria to Inter Milan, the 25-year-old has transformed into one of the most feared strikers in Europe. He was the top scorer in the Serie A last season as well.
Icardi has already scored 6 goals and provided 2 assists in 8 appearances this season. There’s every chance he could go on and get more in this form. He would definitely fit into Mourinho’s 4-2-3-1 formation while the likes of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford would thrive playing with a technically brilliant striker like Icardi. The 25-year-old is good at linking up with his teammates and his superb positioning will also see him receiving a lot of chances in front of goal. United have often lacked an end product in their game and Icardi would be the ideal option for them.
His end product is impeccable and there’s no denying Icardi is a pure goal machine. Manchester United are already languishing deep into the middle of the table and the Red Devils need a game-changer in their team.
