5 Players Who Have No Future At Manchester United Next Season

Jose Mourinho spent insane amount of money on his squad at the start of the season but he has been evidently unhappy with the options at his disposal and is looking to add a number of players yet again at the end of the season. The current squad at the Old Trafford is one of the strongest in Europe but Mourinho is just not able to get the best out of a number of players and has not been able to decide on a lineup that can win him games. He is sure to spend big on players who would walk into the first team and this will leave fringe players in the squad with even lesser playing time next season. This might see Mourinho get rid of a few players this season and here are 5 such players who have no real future at Manchester United.

Matteo Darmian:

The Italian full-back is one of the best in Italy but he has not been able to impress the Manchester United manager this season. He got his chances at the left-back position, thanks to injuries to key players. However, Darmian has not been able to cement a place in the first team. Mourinho is expected to spend on full-backs this season leaving the 27-year with very few options this summer.

Wayne Rooney:

The skipper of the side, Rooney is currently the top goal scorer for Manchester United in the Premier League history but that is not enough for him to warrant him a place in the squad next season. The English international has just not been able to have any impact on the games from a number 10 position and with the manager looking for star players to add to his attack, Rooney might fall further down the pecking order. Surely, he would have no place at the Old Trafford under Jose Mourinho.

Michael Carrick:

Carrick is entering his final couple of months of his contract with the club and there has been no talks about a contract extension. The English midfielder has been a consistent performer in central midfield this season but Mourinho has not been able to use him extensively in the last few games. The manager is looking to add a quality player who can partner Paul Pogba in the midfield and Carrick, at 35, has little chance of making it into the first team next season or beyond.

Sergio Romero:

The backup for David de Gea in the current Manchester United squad, Romero has been brilliant every time he has been called upon. However, he is far from getting a chance to start in the Premier League regularly. Jose Mourinho is expected to bring in another shot-stopper as an understudy for De Gea or maybe even a replacement for him if he moves to Real Madrid but Romero is not going to get a place in the first team anytime soon. The Argentine is only 30-years old and will not settle for another season with such less playing time and might decide to quit Old Trafford this summer.

Adnan Januzaj:

The Belgian attacker was one of the most exciting players for Manchester United not so long ago but he is currently on loan at Sunderland, struggling to get into the first team under David Moyes. He has all the attributes to become a top-class player but Januzaj has just not been able to prove himself and Mourinho is not expected to give him a chance at the Old Trafford. Almost certainly, Januzaj has no real future at Old Trafford at least for the next few years down the line.
