5 goals and 2 assists – Leicester City should recall this 20-year-old prodigy from loan spell in January

Why Leicester City must recall Harvey Barnes in January

According to reports in the Leicestershire Live, Leicester City manager Claude Puel hasn’t ruled out recalling Harvey Barnes from his loan spell West Bromwich Albion prematurely in January. The 20-year-old was shipped out to the Championship in the wake of providing him with adequate game time.

Puel was quoted as saying:

I follow Harvey’s performances of course but in January we will see what happens. I am happy with his work and about the quality he puts on the pitch, and about the good way, good football for him. We will see. (Leicestershire Live)

Barnes has made a good start to his life at the Hawthorns, contributing in the best possible manner to the team. He has scored five goals and provided two assists in 12 league appearances thus far this season.

Furthermore, he has shown his versatility by playing either as a left-sided midfielder or as an attacking midfielder centrally. It proves that the 20-year-old could be the one to add an extra creative edge to the Leicester team if he is recalled in the winter.

That said, Barnes has shown consistency, which is important at such a high level of the game. The 20-year-old is exhibiting performances that can make any manager proud. At the age of 20, he certainly seems like a big prospect for English football.

His parent club Leicester have made a decent start to the season as well, winning 12 points from the first eight league games. However, they have looked a little short on the creative department. The Foxes are quite dependent on youngster James Maddison to supply the passes for the strikers to benefit from.

For that reason, the Foxes have looked pale in possession, making it easier for the defenders to just sit back against Puel’s men.

Conclusion

Hence, the deal is simple – Leicester require an extra creative edge to their attacking department and one of their own, Harvey Barnes, is providing that at another club. Therefore, the Foxes must do everything to get the 20-year-old back at King Power Stadium.

Puel is also known for providing opportunities to young players and staying patient with them, meaning Barnes could flourish under the Frenchman.
