4 goals and 3 assists – Everton must go all out for this out of favour Barcelona attacker this summer

Why Everton should go all out for Barcelona’s Paco Alcacer

Everton made one of the worst Premier League starts last season. The club were sloppy, blank and toothless after a summer spending spree by Ronald Koeman. The Dutch manager was inevitably sacked after a 5-2 loss to the Gunners, which left them in the relegation zone.

Everton then appointed experienced manager Sam Allardyce to salvage their season and salvage their season he did. Under his guidance, the Toffees looked more organised at the back and fluid in attack. The 63-year-old helped Everton to an 8th place finish in the league.

Everton have subsequently signed former Hull City manager Marco Silva as the club’s new manager. He is expected to come in and make widespread changes. The club have been linked with out of favour Barcelona striker Paco Alcacer over the last few days. Everton are reportedly interested in prizing away the striker from the Camp Nou.

Since moving to the Spanish giants in 2016, Alcacer has made a total of just 14 La Liga starts and was often restricted to a substitute role. Alcacer is a natural striker who has shown predatory instincts in front of goal.

He is a pure finisher and has an excellent work ethic. Alcacer scored a total of 30 goals in 93 appearances for Valencia between 2010 and 2016. It was his splendid performances at Valencia that saw him earn a move to the Camp Nou.

The 24-year-old made a total of 8 appearances in the La Liga last term, scoring 4 goals and providing 3 assists. Those are staggering numbers for a player who barely receives any time on the field.

The former Valencia striker also scored 1 goal in 1 Champions League appearance as well as a brace in the Copa Del Rey. It’s a wonder how the striker never got his chance in the Blaugrana squad. However, with the likes of Luis Suarez and Leo Messi in the team, it’s hard to see the Spanish international gain any sort of recognition.

He’s clearly got all the potential to play for a Premier League side like Everton. The Toffees managed to sign Turkish striker Cenk Tosun to fill the boots of Romelu Lukaku, who left to Manchester United last season.

Paco Alcacer would be a brilliant option for Marco Silva as the striker could provide the Turk with ample cover. Everton should certainly go for the player.
