Liverpool are yet to replace the departed Philippe Coutinho, who swapped Anfield for Barcelona in January. Jurgen Klopp has brought in the likes of Fabinho, Xherdan Shaqiri, Naby Keita and Alisson Becker over the last two months but he still needs a creative midfielder this summer, especially after Oxlade-Chamberlain’s long-term injury.
The club are going to need some creativity and vision in the middle of the park in order for Salah, Mane and Firmino to thrive. They are going to need the supply from the midfield and Jurgen Klopp is going to have to bring in a man soon.
Here we take a look at three players the club could target and sign as a replacement for Coutinho.
The midfielder is worth a shot. He is one of Germany’s most exciting talents and possesses all the traits to go on and become one of the best attacking midfielders in the game.
Draxler joined Paris Saint-Germain in 2017 and has since become a crucial member of the squad. He has made a total of 46 appearances for the club, scoring 8 goals.
The German possesses a wide set of skills that will help him fit into the Liverpool squad. The midfielder has excellent vision and passing ability. He averaged a pass success rate of 92.8% in the Ligue 1 last year. He also boasted an average of 91.7% in the Champions League.
Draxler generally operates as a central attacking midfielder but the German is also capable of playing on either flank. He would be a great addition for Jurgen Klopp.
Dybala is one of the most sought-after attackers in Europe. His performances for Juventus have seen him earn widespread praise from coaches and players around the world. Dybala is a pure goalscorer and creator. He joined Juventus from Palermo in 2015.
The Argentinian has since gone on to make a total of 98 appearances for the club, scoring 52 goals. Those are very impressive numbers. Dybala is deadly in front of goal and can finish from all angles. He is also a skilled dribbler of the ball with exquisite first touches and short passes.
The 24-year-old can slot straight into the void left by Philippe Coutinho. He possesses all the traits to play in Klopp’s high press system and could become a peripheral figure for the Merseyside club.
Liverpool stunningly failed to sign the Lyon captain after holding a medical. But there is every chance that a deal could be resurrected as was the case with Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk. Fekir was identified as the perfect man to replace the spot left by Coutinho.

The Frenchman is a expert passer of the ball, with his pinpoint long rangers and crosses often earning him widespread plaudits. The 25-year-old doesn’t possess the dribbling attributes of Coutinho but he does have the vision and creativity. He would be an ideal fit for Klopp’s side.
