3 ways Liverpool could lineup with Havertz in their squad

According to German publication Bild (h/t Daily Mirror), Liverpool are interested in Bayern Leverkusen star Kai Havertz.

Considered as one of the hottest prospects in European football, Havertz has as many as seven major clubs interested in securing his signature, according to Daily Express.

Moreover, it would not be an easy task for the Reds to bring the German international to Anfield, as he has a mammoth £110m price tag on his head.

However, it has not been the best of starts for the 20-year-old this season as he has been hit by successive injuries, and has managed just 2 goals and 1 assist so far.

He was sensational last season for the Bundesliga side, scoring 17 goals and assisting 4 times, from a total of 34 games.

It was a benchmark year for the attacking midfielder, and he has not been able to repeat that feat this season.

However, there is no denying his potential. With 59 goals and 27 assists from 189 matches, he is one of the most talented young footballers around.

Havertz can function in a number of positions as he has proved during his time with Leverkusen, playing in a variety of positions.

His flexibility allows him to play on the wings, especially the right-wing and at times, even as a second striker. Now let’s take a look at the different ways Liverpool could line up if he joins them in the future.

As an attacking midfielder in 4-2-3-1

It is always better if players are allowed to play in their favourite position and in Havertz’s case, he relishes the role of an attacking midfielder.

Blessed with good vision and excellent technical skills, Havertz could easily find pockets of space in the opposition box and break down any defence.

A role he is quite familiar with in his Leverkusen side, it would not take him much time to adjust to the new surroundings at Anfield.

As a central midfielder in 4-3-3

An excellent passer of the ball, Havertz could also be deployed in the middle of the park and could act as an orchestrator with his link-up play.

He could combine well with Fabinho, who can take on the interceptor’s role in front of the back-four, thereby letting Havertz play with freedom and fluidity.

Also, while playing deep, he can at times march forward and take on defenders with his excellent dribbling skills.

As an inside forward on the right flank in a 4-3-3

Havertz is not the best of crossers in the game, and therefore does not qualify as an outright winger.

However, he has a dangerous left foot and has a good eye for goal. He can make good use of his dribbling abilities to cut inside from the right flank and fire away shots on goal.

He is also good in the final third and could link up with his slick passing inside the opposition box.
