3 ways in which Bielsa could utilise this 7-goal midfield ace if he joins Leeds United

Leeds United are ramping up their preparations for the new season where they will look to mount a serious promotion push. The Championship side finished in 13th spot last term as their season came to an uninspiring end.

To turn their fortunes around, Leeds are now undergoing ambitious changes both on and off the pitch. Marcelo Bielsa has taken charge of the club and the Argentine tactician will now look to bolster his squad before the start of the next season.

Venezia midfielder Leo Stulac has been linked with a move to Leeds United. The Slovenian comes fresh off a good season with the Serie B side, who lost their promotion play-off.

Here are 3 ways in which Bielsa could use Stulac if he joined Leeds.

Leo Stulac

Deep Lying Playmaker

Stulac is a midfielder, who is more than capable of orchestrating the game from the deep. He likes to be given the licence to pull the strings and set the tempo of a match. Bielsa would be more than happy to have a quality deep-lying playmaker in his team as the Argentine loves players, who are comfortable on the ball.

The Slovenian could act as the link between the defence and the attack by spraying passes all around after collecting the ball from the back.

Defensive Midfielder

The Venezia man has often slotted in as a defensive midfielder to offer protection to the Serie B outfit’s backline. Not shy of putting in a tackle, Stulac is also adept in positioning himself well when his team lose possession. Bielsa, who is known for his free-flowing brand of football, might not opt to use a static defensive midfielder but Stulac offers him an option to think about.

Advanced Playmaker

Although Stulac likes to operate from the deep, he is well equipped to make an impact up front. The 23-year-old possesses good technique to complement his attacking game as he often gets involved in goalmouth action.

Stulac’s attacking numbers were impressive as he finished the season with 7 goals and 4 assists in 24 games.

Bielsa could choose to use Stulac further up the pitch because of this ability to make a difference in the attacking third. The Slovenian could also help in the pressing up front, which is a key characteristic of Bielsa’s style of play.
