Three signings Celtic must complete before August 31
Scottish champions Celtic have been quiet during the transfer window so far. It has been difficult for Celtic to sign players this summer and the pressure will be on manager Brendan Rodgers to bring some fresh reinforcements as we enter the final week of the transfer window.
Celtic’s direct rivals, Rangers have done solid business under new manager Steven Gerrard, so keeping that in mind, Rodgers should make a couple of signings to improve the quality and competition in the Hoops’ squad in order to stave off any pressure from Gerrard’s Rangers.
Here are three signings Celtic must complete before August 31.
Craig Dawson (West Brom)
Celtic are in shambles defensively and Rodgers must target West Brom’s Craig Dawson to shore up his rearguard.
Dawson, 28, could leave West Brom this summer after the Baggies were relegated from the Premier League last term. The defender is yet to make an appearance for Darren Moore’s side in the Championship and as per the Birmingham Live, he has also submitted a transfer request to force a move.
Celtic must take advantage of the situation and lure Dawson away to the Parkhead. The Celtic defence has been lightweight this season and bringing in an experienced professional, who has played at the elite level, could be massive.
With bags of Premier League experience, Dawson certainly fits the bill at Parkhead. Signing Dawson would toughen up the spine of the team, improve Kristoffer Ajer, take the pressure off Jack Hendry, and send a statement of intent to the rest of the teams.
James McArthur (Crystal Palace)
Celtic should attempt to bring midfielder James McArthur from Crystal Palace to Parkhead this summer.
The signing of Cheikhou Kouyate from West Ham and the arrival of Max Meyer on a free transfer from Schalke could limit McArthur’s playing time at Palace this season, and Celtic should attempt to take advantage of that fact with a swoop for the midfield ace.
McArthur is a tenacious central midfielder and he possesses the kind of quality that would certainly help the Bhoys this term. If he could be signed, McArthur would be a brilliant addition to the Celtic squad.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (Stoke City)
According to the Telegraph, Stoke City manager Gary Rowett has told Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting that he is free to leave the club before this month’s transfer deadline.
Celtic should pounce on Choupo-Moting to improve their quality in the attacking department. The arrival of Choupo-Moting would bring pace, power, versatility, experience and quality to Celtic’s attacking ranks, and should create a healthy competition for places across the forward line.

Bringing the ex-Schalke attacker to Celtic Park, even on a loan basis, would be a serious coup.
