Three Replacements For Daley Blind Who Manchester United Can Target

Manchester United were one of the biggest spenders in the transfer market this summer but they have delivered well to justify their spending. However, Jose Mourinho still doesn’t seem to be convinced that he has all the options that he wants and is still scouting players who can help improve the squad at his disposal.

The manager is also unhappy with quite a few players in the team currently and will surely look to sell a few of them come January, when the transfer window opens again. One such player, who has already been linked with an exit is Dutch defender Daley Blind.

The versatile full-back has been utilised well by Manchester United in his stint at Old Trafford but with Turkish giants Fenerbahce ready to offer United a feasible amount for his services, he is expected to be sold. But Mourinho should have replacements in mind, given his lack of trust in the likes of Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian, who are the only other natural options in the squad. So here are three replacements he should start scouting:

Faouzi Ghoulam (AS Napoli)

The Algerian international is a hot prospect at the moment after it was revealed that he is not signing a contract extension with the Italian giants. The likes of Manchester City and Liverpool are desperate for his services but Manchester United, if they decide to sell Blind, should surely go all out for him. He is one of the best in his position in Europe at the moment and is a perfect fit for Mourinho’s style of play.

Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur)

A long-term transfer target for Manchester United, Danny Rose is yet to make a comeback into the first team under Mauricio Pochettino. He spoke about a pay-rise that angered many Spurs fans and that might drive him out of the club in January. He was linked with both the Manchester clubs in the summer but no deal materialised. Blind’s sale could be Mourinho’s way of making a place for Rose in the squad at Old Trafford.

Jordi Alba (Barcelona)

Probably the toughest option for Manchester United to lure to England is Spanish speedster, Jordi Alba. A target, again, for both Manchester clubs, Alba slipped down the pecking order last season but has regained his place under new boss Ernesto Valverde. However, he continues to be linked with an exit and Manchester United are mentioned almost every time. His market value of €32m should not be an issue for the Red Devils but luring him out of Barcelona could be the real challenge.
