3 Top-class former transfer targets Tottenham could reconsider including £60m Premier League star

Another promising season, yet another trophy-less season – seems like the perfect theme for every single Tottenham season under Pochettino so far. The north London club look ever closer to finally breaking the barrier between being a good team and a title-winning team. However, it has not been the case so far and there is certainly work to be done at the club.

With the highly ambitious stadium under construction and securing the signature of Pochettino for a new deal, Tottenham must finally break their trophy duck. To do that, they need to continue the good brand of football they are already playing.

Let’s take a look at some of their transfer targets from the past who can help them reach the top level that they crave for.

Moussa Dembele

Although a player with almost the identical name plays for Tottenham in the midfield, they can do with the Moussa Dembele – the striker.

Moussa Dembele

The Celtic forward has been linked with a number of premier league clubs in the past and Tottenham were reportedly keen on him last year. Spurs should look to sign the player again this year to support Kane and even compete with him.

Pochettino brought Fernando Llorente from Swansea to strengthen his striking department last summer but the Spaniard failed to make an impact. Dembele might just be the player that Tottenham need to sign to add even more attacking threat and goals to their game.

Andre Gomes

The Portuguese midfielder was tipped for a big future at Barcelona but it has all gone downhill for him in the last 2 years. Gomes has lost his manager’s trust and it looks like there is no future for him with the mighty Catalans. Sensing an opportunity, Tottenham looked at the prospect of signing the player last summer but a move never materialised.

Andre Gomes

Tottenham should reignite their interest in Andre Gomes as he could help them bolster their midfield. The former Valencia man is known for his ability to pass well between the midfield lines.

Riyad Mahrez

Although the player might already be on his way to Manchester City for a fee of £60m, Tottenham should go back in for a player who is as good as they come in the Premier League. Pochettino was interested in bringing the Mahrez at the club last year but Leicester weren’t ready to let go of their prized asset.

If anything, Pochettino must try and hijack Man City’s move as he’d be able to offer the Algerian more playing time than Pep Guardiola.

Riyad Mahrez

Mahrez would be a massive upgrade on the options that Tottenham have on the wings as of now. One can just imagine the damage a trio of Kane, Eriksen and Mahrez could do to the opposition.
