3 Things Jurgen Klopp Should Do, If Liverpool Are To Beat Borussia Dortmund

Liverpool prepares to take on Borussia Dortmund in the knockout stage of the Europa League and it would be an emotional game for Reds manager Jurgen Klopp as he faces his ex-club. The German led the side to two Bundesliga titles during his spell at the club.

He also led them to the Champions League final in 2013 but they lost out to the Bayern Munich juggernaut. Klopp did turn things around for the club from Dortmund and that is the kind of work he has to do at Liverpool.

This project has not come out perfectly at the moment but the Reds know that Klopp is the right man for the job and given time, he will crack things at Liverpool.

Dortmund are one of the best clubs in Europe and their attacking power is incredible. They are favourites to win the Europa League this season and even dismantled a better team like Tottenham 5-1 over the two legs; Liverpool should be an easier task.

Klopp has a lot of work on his hands and we look at three changes that Liverpool must make to beat Dortmund.

Lead the line with Divock Origi

Daniel Sturridge might have returned to the Liverpool squad but he does look rather rusty and maybe giving him a rest in this game would be the right thing to do. The English striker does have a history of missing games due to injury and the best thing for him could be to return to more training to work on his sharpness in front of goal.

Liverpool doesn’t have the likes of Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke to lead the line and the best they can do with is Divock Origi who can be a beast on his day for any defence in the world. The 20-year-old has scored five goals this term and his pace and strength could be a great option to use against the Dortmund defence.

Drop Jordan Henderson

Jordan Henderson hasn’t had the best season either under Brendan Rodgers or under Jurgen Klopp. The Liverpool captain doesn’t seem to be the same player that he was in 2013 and there have been talks about Klopp wanting to replace the English midfielder next season.

Henderson often does not add much to the side, neither can he attack well nor can he defend and replacing him with Joe Allen could be a better option as the Welsh Xavi is known for his work rate and recycling abilities with the ball.

Play with James Milner and Joe Allen

Liverpool have often played with Emre Can and James Milner as the two deep lying midfielders but Milner and Allen could be the two deep players while Can is given the free role in midfield.

The German has shown that he can do the box-to-box role really well and with the suggestion of not playing Henderson in the starting XI, Liverpool would need Milner and Allen to have excellent games against the likes of Gundogan.

This will be a tough tie for Liverpool and each player will have to be at their best if the Reds are to get the win. This surely will be an interesting tie to look into.
