Three Left-Backs Who Liverpool Can Target This Summer

English Premier League outfit Liverpool will finally be back in the Champions League next season after their new manager Jurgen Klopp did extremely well to get them to finish in the top-4 last season. The manager is now looking to add some quality to his first team but will also have to repair a few positions in the squad and the most important position that Klopp should take care of is the left-back position.

English midfielder James Milner has not been bad in this role but Liverpool need a genuine left-back to challenge for the title or progress in the Champions League. They are set to let Spanish star Alberto Moreno leave this summer and will surely have to spend on a left-back in the transfer window. Here are three options Klopp can look at, this summer.

Andrew Robertson (Hull City)

The Scottish international was extensively linked with a move to Anfield recently and is currently the most likely player to join Klopp’s squad next season. Though not extraordinary, the 24-year old showed decent resilience and attacking instincts at the KCOM last season but failed to keep Hull City in the top flight for another season. He is sure to move back to the Premier League and Liverpool could be the perfect destination.

Benjamin Mendy (AS Monaco)

Though not a cost effective option, Liverpool can solve their age-old problem by splashing enough cash on this up and coming youngster from France. After a stellar season for the Champions of France, Mendy has been linked with a move to England, with Manchester City coming close to landing him. But he is expected to cost around £40m, which is a bit too expensive, even for City’s liking. But he will solve an impending problem at Anfield for the long-term and could well be worth his price tag.

Diego Laxalt (Genoa)

Though not the perfect fit for Klopp’s system at Anfield, Liverpool have been linked with a move for Uruguay left-back Laxalt for a while now and it might be the perfect time for them to get this deal done. After a decent season on the flank in Italy, the 24-year old is settled at his club at the moment but Liverpool are desperate for a left-back and could do with the defensively sound Laxalt next season. He is surely going to solve Liverpool’s problems on the left-flank, defensively at least, next season.
