3 Strikers Conte Could Target In January Including This 28-goal Striker To Compete With Morata

Three Strikers Antonio Conte Could Target In January To Bring To Stamford Bridge

Premier League defending champions Chelsea recently received a major blow due to an injury sustained by Alvaro Morata. He missed out on their 3-1 victory against Huddersfield but is expected to be in contention soon. However, this highlights a worrisome prospect for the London club. The Spaniard was brought to Stamford Bridge over the summer after Diego Costa’s infamous departure from the club and he has now become a pivotal figure for the Blues. Although they also have the services of Michy Batshuayi, it does seem like Antonio Conte does not trust him enough to lead the line.

To be fair, the Belgian has proven his worth several times but for whatever reasons, Conte seems to fail to see it. Regardless, the January window will be a good chance for the Italian manager to bring in reinforcements since it can be detrimental to their fortunes to depend solely on one striker. Morata could get injured in the future again and if Chelsea are to continue their resurgent form, they need more hands on the deck. With that in mind, here are 3 strikers Conte could consider signing once the winter window rolls around.

Andrea Belotti – Torino

The 23-year-old forward was widely sought-after over the summer and a move for him could truly benefit Chelsea in the long run. In 16 appearances across all competitions so far this season, Belotti has scored 7 goals for the Serie A side.

With his talent, there is no limiting as to what he can achieve at Stamford Bridge. Last season, he scored 28 goals in 38 games and was Torino’s main man going forward. Prying him away from Torino may prove to be a costly affair but when has money ever been a problem for Chelsea?

Mauro Icardi – Inter Milan

The Serie A is teeming with promising strikers and Icardi is most certainly one of them. A player who has scored 17 goals in as many appearances for a club like Inter Milan can never be a bad option. The Argentinian striker has been on fire this season and is continuing his prolific displays from last season, which shows his consistency. He has even provided one assist and his contributions up front have been vital for the Italian side. Icardi also has plenty of leadership skills, having donned the captain’s armband on several occasions for Inter. He surely is an exciting option.

Timo Werner – RB Leipzig

Probably the most ambitious option on the list, Werner has been earning rave reviews for his performances across Europe. He already has 12 goals to his name across all competitions for the German club this season and could prove to be a viable option to address Chelsea’s attacking concerns.

His displays were quite attractive in the Confederations Cup with Germany and he even picked up the Golden Boot for being the best scorer in that tournament. Werner does seem ready for top-level football and a move to Chelsea could truly help him develop his trade further.
