3 Ridiculous Arsenal Transfer Rumours That Won’t Happen At Any Cost Including Antoine Griezmann’s Move

Share

Arsenal are struggling and clearly so. Having been thrashed out of the Champions League by Bayern Munich on an aggregate scoreline of 10-2, the Gunners have been on a downslide in the league as well, losing their last 2 games against Liverpool and West Bromwich Albion and as a result, find themselves at 6th position in the league standings.

Question marks are hanging over the future of manager Arsene Wenger, while doubts cloud over the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. With so many question marks surrounding the club, things don’t look very good. However, plan of action for the next season cannot stop and Arsenal have been linked with a move for many stars across Europe. While some rumours make sense, there are a few that seem outright ridiculous. Here we pick out three such crazy transfer rumours that are unlikely to happen.

Andrea Belotti

It was earlier reported that Arsenal had submitted a whopping £56 million bid for Torino striker Andrea Belotti back in the January transfer window and that the bid was rejected by the Italian side.

Wenger was quick to refute the claims, yet, the rumours continue to make rounds. It is believed that the Gunners are still chasing the striker who has scored 24 goals already this season and has 4 assists to his name. Not very long ago, Torino president went on to claim that the player was worth £130 million and that the club wouldn’t look to sell him for anything less than £100 million.

The 23-year old may be is in the form of his life, but it is just impossible to imagine Arsenal shelling out that kind of money on one player.

Case Number 1: Closed!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Another striker target, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been rumoured to be on Arsenal’s radar for quite a while and it was also reported last year that the Gunners had made a £52 million bid for the Borussia Dortmund star.

The 27-year old has been in hot form over the past two years and has continued to score at free-will this season as well. Aubameyang has 30 goals from 33 appearances this season and also has 4 assists to his name.  It had been reported earlier that the Gabon international was looking to leave Dortmund and recently the club president Hans-Joachim Watzke said that they will talk to the player at the end of the season and are open to receiving bids for the striker.

However, given the age and his goal-scoring ability, he will cost an outrageous amount of money. With the likes of Real Madrid also interested, it just seems highly unlikely that Arsenal would sign him.

Case Number 2: Closed!

Antoine Griezmann

The Atletico Madrid star has been a subject of many rumours over the past few months with Manchester United touted to be the most likely destination. However, according to reports, the Gunners had also thrown their hat in the ring for Griezmann’s signature.

The Frenchman has been one of the best forwards in Spain over the past two seasons and has managed to score 20 times this season and has also racked up 11 assists from 40 appearances across all competitions.

But given the exorbitant amount that is being quoted in the range of £86 million, it is very very unlikely that Arsenal would break the bank.

Case Number 3: Closed as well!
