3 Reasons Why This French Attacker Will Be A Misfit At Liverpool

The rumour mills just don’t stop and it wouldn’t be right to leave Liverpool out from the loop. The Reds have been one of the form teams in 2015 and are unbeaten in their last 9 fixtures in the Premier League, they are playing really good football and have fixed their leaky defence. Their attack however still has a few issues with Daniel Sturridge not being up to full fitness and a little rusty and their over reliance on Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling.

A player who has been linked with Liverpool is the French forward Yoann Gourcuff, the Lyon forward has had a good season so for the Ligue 1 leaders, although a lot of credit goes to the exploits of Nabil Fekir and Alexandre Lacazette. The 28 year old would be a free agent come the end of the season but here are 3 reasons why Liverpool should steer clear of the French forward.

Incoming Divock Origi

People might forget that Divock Origi is a Liverpool player on loan at Lille, the Belgian was touted to come to Liverpool in January but that move did not come to being as Lille wanted cash to cancel the loan deal which ends at the end of the season.

Origi is expected to play some games for Liverpool next season and bringing in Gourcuff would not only stagnate the Belgian’s career but also the Frenchman as he would need to develop and understand the English game but in all probability he would end up sitting on the bench while Sturridge, Balotelli and Origi battle it out for the starting spots as the lone striker.

The young guns at Liverpool

Liverpool are blessed with talent and don’t really need another attacking midfielder, they already have Raheem Sterling, Philippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Jordan Ibe, Lazar Markovic for those positions. They should concentrate on these young players and help them develop more, some of the players have already shown glimpses of what they can really do and giving them more time would be better for the club.

Gourcuff is 28 years old and his development might have become stagnant, he might be talented but there really is no more scope of development and that is something that Brendan Rodgers is always looking out for.

Injury prone

Another reason to avoid the attacker is that he is injury prone, Gourcuff, in his time at Lyon has missed close to 90 games with various injuries and playing in the Premier League is one of the toughest things you could do thanks to the rough and tumble nature of the game.

Gourcuff might be talented but simple bringing him into such a tough league would be suicidal for him and the team and hence Liverpool should stay away from the French attacker, who might find it better if he remains in France and playing for Lyon.
