3 Reasons Why This £25m German Star Will Save Moyes’ Job

3. For A Mark of Intent/Confidence Boost

Manchester City’s squad, Tottenham’s £100m splurge, Chelsea’s Oscar and Hazard and Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil have all been signs of intent from the rest of the Premier League’s big boys, but it’s been a while since we have seen United do such a thing. Although Robin van Persie is an arguable point, a £24m, 29 year-old striker isn’t quite as far as the rest of them have gone, and that in a way is worrying for United fans. It is not without effort, as they were linked to many big names over the summer, but their attempts and failure make United even more of a laughing stock in the Premier League, but if all goes well, Gundogan could change that.

Of course it would require more that just one midfielder, but it would certainly be a start. £25m is bit higher, and it is questionable if a club with slowly rising debt could pay such a fee without offloading some players, but if they had to do that, it wouldn’t exactly be a mark of intent anymore, as it would show that United are now a club that must sell to buy, something that hasn’t really happened before.

With things getting bad to worse for the David Moyes, this signing is necessary to win the fans’ confidence. And also this move could be a real confidence boost for the Red Devils. Will he do what Mesut Ozil has done to Arsenal? We have to wait and see.
